Introduction Of 007: First Light

Described as a “wholly original Bond origin story,” First Light invites players to step into the early days of the world’s most iconic secret agent and earn that coveted 00 status. According to the game’s official site, this won’t be a retelling of a movie or book—it’s a brand-new take on the Bond legend, crafted entirely by IO Interactive.
So far, IO has kept most details under wraps. One thing we do know: First Light is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, thanks to a brief teaser shown during April’s Switch 2 Direct. As for other platforms? We’re still waiting to find out.
IO Interactive’s CEO, Hakan Abrak, previously shared that First Light is intended to kick off an ambitious Bond trilogy. “What’s exciting about this project is that we actually got to create an original story,” Abrak said. “It’s not a gamification of a movie—it’s a fresh beginning, one that we hope grows into a trilogy.”
007: First Light was one of several major third-party titles revealed during the Switch 2 showcase. It appeared alongside games like The Duskbloods (FromSoftware’s next project), Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, and Street Fighter 6. On the first-party side, Nintendo showed off titles like Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World, and Kirby Air Riders.
As for when we’ll see more? Summer Game Fest Live kicks off Friday, June 6 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. While 007: First Light hasn’t been officially listed in the lineup, fans are keeping their eyes peeled. The event is already teasing big names like the mysterious horror title Ill and an appearance by none other than Hideo Kojima.
