He stressed that safeguarding airspace integrity and passenger wellbeing remains the top priority. GCC

Exceptional Flight Operations to Support Stranded Passengers

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has commenced exceptional flight operations across UAE airports to facilitate the departure of passengers impacted by recent flight disruptions. These operations are being carried out according to organised schedules, which will be communicated directly to affected travellers by their respective airlines. GCC

Authorities have advised passengers not to proceed to airports unless contacted by their airlines, in order to prevent congestion and ensure efficient processing. The GCAA expressed appreciation for public cooperation, highlighting that compliance with official guidance is essential to maintaining orderly and safe airport operations. GCC

Nearly 18,000 Passengers Transported Since March 1

Between March 1, 2026, and now, approximately 17,980 passengers have been successfully transported. In addition, more than 80 extra flights have been scheduled, offering a combined capacity exceeding 27,000 passengers.

The reopening of GCC air corridors significantly strengthens operational capacity, allowing UAE airports to handle up to 48 flights per hour. This expansion reflects both the resilience of the country’s aviation infrastructure and the effectiveness of regional coordination mechanisms.

Ongoing collaboration continues with neighbouring states, GCC civil aviation authorities, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to activate approved regional emergency response frameworks. These measures aim to ensure that the restoration of air traffic proceeds in a safe, structured, and internationally aligned manner.

Government to Cover Accommodation Costs

In support of affected travellers, the UAE government has confirmed it will bear accommodation and hospitality costs for passengers stranded due to delays. Essential services and logistical assistance remain available to ensure passenger comfort and safety until onward travel arrangements are finalised.

This step reinforces the UAE’s longstanding position as a dependable global aviation hub capable of maintaining service continuity during challenging circumstances.

Tourism Sector Remains Fully Prepared

During the briefing, Al Marri affirmed that the UAE’s tourism sector remains fully prepared and operational. The country has consistently demonstrated proactive crisis management and high readiness during previous regional and global challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UAE’s tourism ecosystem includes more than 100,000 hotel rooms and over 40,000 tourism-related establishments nationwide. The Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in coordination with local tourism authorities, continues to work closely with hotels and tourism companies to ensure visitor safety, security, and the highest standards of service.

The reopening of air corridors marks a decisive step toward stabilising regional air travel while maintaining the UAE’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and international cooperation.
