Key Attractions Announce Temporary Closures

One of Dubai’s most popular family destinations, Global Village, confirmed it would not operate on March 1. The announcement was made through its official social media channels, though no further operational details were provided.

In Ras Al Khaimah, Jebel Jais and all associated attractions, activities, and restaurants were temporarily closed in coordination with national guidance. Management stated that operations would resume once conditions allow.

Abu Dhabi’s Abrahamic Family House also announced the suspension of all activities and guided tours until further notice.

Meanwhile, Dubai Parks and Resorts confirmed it would remain closed on Sunday, March 1, as a precautionary safety measure. Visitors were advised to monitor official social media platforms for updates regarding reopening dates and guidance for existing bookings.

Context: Heightened Vigilance Across the UAE

The temporary closures come amid increased vigilance across the Emirates following recent regional security developments. According to official statements, public venues are working in coordination with national authorities to prioritise public safety.

The Iranian government confirmed missile and drone strikes targeting US assets across the Gulf region in retaliation for a joint attack on Iran by the United States and Israel. Targets reportedly included locations in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE, where airbases hosting US assets are located.

In the UAE, four individuals were injured after intercepted drones caused debris to fall over residential areas and towers. Authorities confirmed damage to parts of Dubai, including Dubai International Airport, the landmark Burj Al Arab, and Palm Jumeirah.

Impact on Tourism and Public Life

The closures represent a precautionary step rather than an indefinite suspension of operations. The UAE remains one of the region’s leading tourism and business hubs, and authorities continue to stress that public safety remains the highest priority.

Global Village, known for its open-air pavilions representing more than 90 countries, typically operates in the evenings during Ramadan, with gates opening from 5pm to 1am (Sunday–Wednesday) and 5pm to 2am (Thursday–Saturday). Visitors planning outings during the holy month have been encouraged to check official updates before travelling.

Officials have reiterated the importance of following verified government communications and safety protocols during this period of regional uncertainty.

Further updates are expected as authorities continue to assess conditions.
