A Life-Changing Win

For Rubel Ahmed Samsad Ali, a 24-year-old painter at Globe Building Contracting LLC, this Eid Al Fitr was unforgettable. He emerged as the lucky winner of a brand-new car in a special event aimed at recognising and appreciating the contributions of workers across the UAE.

“When my name was called, I rushed to the stage and hugged the officials. I couldn’t believe my luck,” Rubel shared with Khaleej Times.

Having lived in the UAE for three years, the Bangladeshi expat from Sunamganj town in Sylhet division plans to sell his newly won white Nissan Sunny. He intends to use the proceeds to build a house and support his mother back home, who was equally overjoyed by the news.

Celebrating Success

Despite earning a fixed salary of Dh800, Rubel manages to increase his income to Dh1,500 through overtime work. Residing in Jebel Ali, he plans to continue working with his current company. To celebrate his win, he spent Dh200 treating his roommates as a token of appreciation for their support.

Nationwide Festivities

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre), in partnership with federal and local government entities, organised a series of Eid celebrations to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of over 100,000 workers. The events, held on the first and second days of Eid from 12 PM to 6 PM, featured a range of activities including sports, entertainment, competitions, and giveaways.

Prizes such as e-scooters, mobile phones, and airline tickets were distributed, along with various gifts at key locations including Musaffah and Al Mafraq in Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali in Dubai, Al Sajaa in Sharjah, Al Jurf in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, RAKIZ in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hail Industrial in Fujairah, and the Dulsco Labour Village.

Recognising the Workforce’s Contributions

These celebratory activities were designed to enhance happiness, quality of life, and overall well-being among workers while acknowledging their role in the country’s sustainable growth. Officials from Mohre and its partners also joined workers in performing Eid prayers at event sites across the country, exchanging greetings and reinforcing the spirit of unity and appreciation.

The UAE’s commitment to its workforce remains evident through these initiatives, ensuring that those who contribute significantly to the nation’s development feel valued and celebrated.
