Introduction Of Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 is almost here, and while shiny new hardware is cool and all, we all know what really matters: the games. Based on what’s confirmed and what’s looking highly likely, we’ve already got a pretty solid idea of the launch-day lineup — and yeah, a lot of it is familiar. Nintendo Switch 2

Table of Contents
Thanks to backwards compatibility, free next-gen upgrade patches, and Switch 2 Editions of top-tier titles, Switch 2 won’t be lacking in day-one content. While we’re still waiting to fully dive into the system and spend proper time with each game, here’s an early list of what we’re most excited about — the Switch 2 games that look like must-plays right out the gate. Some of these are brand-new. Some are enhanced versions of iconic hits. Others might not make the cut until we test them out ourselves (looking at you, Cyberpunk 2077), but these are the frontrunners so far.
Let’s jump in. Nintendo Switch 2
🌟 The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Switch 2 Edition
Already one of the greatest games on the original Switch, Tears of the Kingdom is about to get even better. Nintendo’s rolling out higher-res visuals, smoother performance, and full HDR support — so expect a crisper, more stable adventure across the skies, depths, and plains of Hyrule. Nintendo Switch 2
This version also brings in new mobile app integrations via the upgraded Switch app:
- Progress tracking for shrines and Koroks
- Voice-guided exploration
- Shared Autobuild blueprints
- In-game commentary from characters (yes, including Zelda herself)
Even without the upgrades, Tears of the Kingdom is a massive open-world epic — one you could easily pour 100+ hours into without running out of things to discover. Now, it’s just more polished than ever.
🗺️ The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — Switch 2 Edition
The game that redefined open-world design is getting its own glow-up too. Like its sequel, the Switch 2 Edition of Breath of the Wild includes visual and performance upgrades and the same cool mobile app features (minus Autobuild sharing, of course). Nintendo Switch 2
If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring Korok Forest without the frame rate dropping to single digits, this one’s for you. The challenge-heavy combat, clever puzzle design, and rewarding exploration all hold up beautifully — now with extra shine. Nintendo Switch 2
🏁 Mario Kart World
Nintendo’s most iconic racer is back — and this time, it’s going open world.
While we haven’t gone hands-on with the full version yet, what we’ve played so far is looking legit. Mario Kart World takes the core mechanics of MK8 Deluxe and revs them up with:
- An open-world hub
- Day/night cycles
- Water racing sections
- Bigger races (more drivers)
- A brand-new Free Roam mode
Oh, and they’ve added Cow as a playable character. Yes, Cow. That’s all you need to know, honestly.
All jokes aside, this game feels like a big, exciting step forward for the series — and it’s shaping up to be a killer showcase for the Switch 2.
🧙 Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster
The cult-classic JRPG from the 3DS era is back — and looking better than ever.
Flying Fairy HD Remaster brings crisp, updated visuals and a few modern upgrades (like quality-of-life UI improvements and Switch 2-specific features like mouse controls in mini-games), all while keeping that smart, strategic combat system intact.
If you missed the original or just want a better way to replay it, this is the perfect excuse to dive back into the world of Luxendarc.
👀 What Else Could Make the List?
There are a few heavy-hitters we’re still waiting to try for ourselves — but if their Switch 2 ports live up to expectations, they’ll definitely be worth mentioning later:
- Cyberpunk 2077 (finally running smoothly on handheld?)
- Hitman (stealth and spectacle, now more portable)
- Split Fiction (an upcoming narrative-driven gem)
Stay tuned — we’ll update the list once we’ve taken them for a spin.
Final Thoughts
If you’re picking up a Switch 2 on launch day, you’ve got plenty to be excited about. Between upgraded classics and bold new entries, the early library’s looking pretty stacked — even if we’re still waiting on some official confirmations.
Remember: for now, this is an early recommendation list. Things might shift as we dig into more of the system and future titles drop. But if you’re itching to know what to boot up first, these games are safe bets for an epic start to your Switch 2 journey.
Let the gaming begin.
