Abu Dhabi | May 28, 2025 — Public sector employees in the UAE can look forward to a four-day weekend in celebration of Eid Al Adha, following the official announcement from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

According to the statement issued on Wednesday, the It holiday for government workers will begin on Thursday, June 5 (9 Dhul Hijjah) and run through Sunday, June 8 (12 Dhul Hijjah). Normal working hours will resume on Monday, June 9.
The announcement comes after the UAE’s moonsighting committee confirmed that the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah was sighted on the evening of Tuesday, May 28, marking Wednesday, May 29 as the first day of the Islamic month.
With the moon sighting confirmed, the Day of Arafah — a key date in the Hajj pilgrimage — will fall on Thursday, June 5, while Eid Al Adha will be observed starting Friday, June 6.
This extended holiday offers UAE residents and citizens an opportunity to spend time with family, travel, or take part in local festivities like the Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Festival fireworks and other cultural events held across the Emirates.
