Rimac’s Evolution: Global Powerhouse Nevera R

Introduction Of Rimac’s

Rimac Automobili, the Croatian electric vehicle (EV) upstart that began as a one-man operation in a garage, has ascended to become a supercar and technology powerhouse. Now merged with the iconic French brand Bugatti, Rimac has continued to push the boundaries of automotive performance. The latest testament to this evolution is the Nevera R, an upgraded version of its all-electric hypercar that packs even more power and performance into an already formidable machine.

Rimac's

Revealed at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week, the It Nevera R is designed to be a radical, rebellious, and relentless addition to the hypercar market. The Nevera R is an engineering marvel that boasts 2,107 horsepower, a top speed of 217 miles per hour, with the potential to reach up to 256 mph under It expert oversight. The car also achieves an astonishing 0 to 60 mph acceleration in just 1.74 seconds. These specs set a new benchmark for hypercar performance, making the Nevera R a standout even among the elite.

It design team has further emphasized the car’s high-performance credentials with larger rear wheels, an extremely low nose, a high rear-fixed-wing, and a carbon fiber structure. These features contribute to the Nevera R’s aggressive stance and reinforce its identity as a hypercar built for more than just straight-line speed.

Precision Engineering for Ultimate Cornering

The Nevera R is more than a drag-strip champion; it is engineered for precision cornering. Equipped with four electric motors, advanced ceramic brakes, a newly developed 108 kilowatt-hour battery pack, and Michelin Pilot Cup tires, the Nevera R ensures unparalleled handling and control. Rimac has also incorporated all-wheel torque vectoring to optimize the vehicle’s performance during sharp turns, making it a comprehensive hypercar experience.

“Nobody missed power in the Nevera,” CEO Mate It commented ahead of the vehicle’s reveal. “But we decided to squeeze a little bit more out that we knew we could still get out of the car. And, of course, give it a more aggressive, even more interesting design than before.”

The Nevera R is a limited edition, with only 40 units planned for production. Each unit carries a base price of €2.3 million ($2.5 million), reflecting its exclusive nature and advanced engineering. This new model builds on the legacy of the original Nevera, which was itself a record-breaking hypercar when it launched in 2022, offering 1,914 horsepower, a 0 to 60 mph time of 1.85 seconds, and a top speed of 258 mph.

Rimac’s Remarkable Journey

It Automobili was founded in 2009 by Mate Rimac, who was just 21 years old at the time. What began as a hobby project in a garage quickly evolved into a groundbreaking enterprise. By 2011, Rimac had launched its first all-electric hypercar, the Concept One, followed by the Concept Two, which eventually evolved into the Nevera.

By 2021, when the Nevera was officially revealed, Rimac had grown into a unicorn startup, known not just for its cars but also for its advanced EV components supplied to other automakers, including Hyundai and Porsche. That same year, Rimac announced a merger with Bugatti, forming a new entity that combined the strengths of both brands.

Today, Bugatti-Rimac is a multifaceted company producing combustion, electric, and hybrid hypercars. The company is majority-owned by the Rimac Group, with Porsche holding a 45% stake. Rimac Automobili continues to operate as the EV hypercar brand under this umbrella. The Rimac Group also includes a technology subsidiary, Rimac Technology, which supplies EV components to other manufacturers, and Verne, a newly launched robotaxi business.

A Unique Position in a Challenging Market

The reveal of the Nevera R comes at a time of upheaval in the EV market. While global EV sales are on the rise, automakers in the U.S. and Europe have faced challenges in delivering affordable electric vehicles. Many EV startups that once sought to replicate Tesla’s success have faltered. In contrast, Rimac has thrived by targeting a niche market of collectors and enthusiasts, offering vehicles that are not just electric but also exceptional in performance and design.

“Just taking a normal car, making it electric, that’s not enough,” Mate Rimac said. “It has to be better; it has to offer something unique. And in our case, you know, the customer group that we are talking to, basically is collectors.”

Rimac’s story is a remarkable tale of innovation, determination, and relentless pursuit of excellence. With the Nevera R, the company has once again set a new standard in the hypercar world, solidifying its position as a leader in automotive innovation.
